I want to love you so bad Elmwood, but I've had 50/50 experiences. First couple of time I had visited you, you were fantastic. The last two times, really not so much. I did email you about my visit in August, where it took over 1/2hr to seat me for my scheduled lunch and issues with the services. My mom planned a spa day in February for the two of us (she was visiting from Mexico). We both agreed parts of the day were great. The water therapies area was very busy and some very noisy groups, your staff did remind them periodically to bring their voices down which was good (but it should also be on the guests to be respectful of everyone around you). Lunch was good, very much improved from my visit in August, as was the hot stone massage and my facial. My mother's facial wasn't so great and she was breaking out the next day from it. The pedicures and manicures. These were bad, I seriously get better done at a nail salon for $35. The pedicurist did not seem to want to be there to do her job. As a guest paying for services, this doesn't feel good. She hurt me by clipping a toe nail too much, but never said anything and painted over the nail (as she only clipped a portion of it). A week later I realized that this is what had happened and clipped the nail fully myself. The polish job on the pedicure lasted about a week (pedicures have always lasted 3 weeks + before wear and chipping) but what was worse was the condition of my feet. I went in without scrubbing the dry skin, as I have always been told to come in as you are, and I left with my feet so scaly and covered in dry breaking skin - they were worse off than when I came in, it was disgusting and unacceptable. My manicurist was okay, but I also very much felt like she didn't want to be at work either. As an upscale spa, I don't expect having to experience people who don't want to be at work (ladies, you chose this industry to work in) and again (as with my last visit), I don't expect having to come home and do the job myself. The Elmwood can be a great experience, sadly, I have only had that experience twice in the past and not over my last two visits.

Overall the spa is average. I've been here before for the water treatment and massage. Unfortunately, Elmwood did not meet my expectations during my last visit. I brought my girlfriend here for a facial, brunch and to use the water facilities. They say the water treatment area is a whisper only area, but there is no enforcement by staff, so it can get really noisy. My girlfriend went it for a facial but the service was unsanitary, and she broke out the next day. We had to book her another facial elsewhere the following week. Short story is extractions were done with bare hands, and they move from massaging your feet to your face without washing up. Don't expect much from the massage either, they just rub oil on you, put a mask on and go off and do other things for the time you pay for. Then they try to sell product to you. The brunch at the terrace was good, and our waiter was very attentive. They asked me at checkout if I enjoyed my stay, I said no. They made no follow up to ask why and I wanted to give my feedback then. So instead, I'm writing it now. I would be happy to pass along areas of improvement.
